Golden Milk: Warming spices for healing
This warming Ayurvedic tonic blends turmeric, spices, and milk to support immunity, reduce inflammation, and calm the mind. Ideal as a soothing evening drink for all doshas.
Serves: 1
Ingredients:
- 1 cup organic milk (cow, almond, coconut, or seed-based like hemp or sesame)
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 – 2 pinches ground black pepper
Optional Additions:
- ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
- ¼ tsp ground or freshly grated ginger
- 1 – 2 pinches nutmeg
- 1 – 2 pinches cardamom
- 1 tsp ghee, MCT oil, or coconut oil
Sweetener options:
- 1 – 2 tsp raw honey (add only after heating)
- Raw coconut sugar
- Raw cane sugar
- Stevia or monk fruit
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, heat milk gently over low to medium heat.
- Add turmeric, pepper, and any optional spices. Stir well.
- Simmer for 5 – 7 minutes, but do not boil.
- Remove from heat, then stir in oil (if using). Let cool slightly before adding honey.
- Pour and enjoy slowly, ideally in the evening or before bed.
