Basmati rice: A light Ayurvedic staple
Lightly spiced and gently aromatic, this basmati rice is the perfect companion to Ayurvedic stews, dals, and soups. Its ease of digestion and tridoshic nature make it a grounding, versatile staple for any meal.
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
- 2 cups basmati rice (soaked 2 – 3 hours, rinsed)
- 6 cups water
- ½ tsp finely ground black pepper
- ½ tsp Himalayan salt
- Optional: 2 tbsp ghee (or coconut oil)
Instructions:
- Bring water to a boil in a large pot.
- Add rice and cook uncovered for 20 minutes.
- In the last 5 minutes, stir in ghee (if using), salt, and pepper.
- Cook until rice is soft. Serve warm.
